This site is a tribute to Elizabeth Jean Wright (Caldwell) who passed away peacefully on 17th January 2023 at Ashridge Court Care Centre, Bexhill-on-Sea. Much loved by all her family and a friend to many. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her kindness, warmth, generosity and humour.
Born and raised in Glasgow, Elizabeth trained as a teacher, initially teaching in the Gorbals before moving to Crowborough, East Sussex in 1965 with her late husband George on account of his work in the Civil Service. A well liked and respected teacher, Elizabeth brought a well reknowned Scottish slant to her classes and she continued to teach in schools around East Sussex until her late sixties. Teaching children was always close to her heart and she talked of her experiences both north and south of the border fondly. After a successful career spanning over 40 years, Elizabeth enjoyed many pastimes attending art classes and various outings and crafts with the WI and Battle Leisure Club amongst others.
Run by a close friend's daughter, Impact Arts is a Scottish charity based in Glasgow that helps people and communities enrich and transform their lives through art and creativity. It represents all the things close to my Mother's heart including her love of art.

In memory of a lovely lady and a wonderful mum and grandmother.
Elizabeth was a wonderful women who I knew all my life due to her and George’s close connection with my parents and my friendship with Kristian. Witty, sharp and loving is how I will remember her and will be forever grateful for being an important figure during a key part of my childhood. Sending love and support to Kristian, Sally and family and sorry that I could not be at the service today.
